Did you know less than 2% of your audience sees your social media posts organically? This doesn’t mean you need to put paid spend behind every post (though it does help if budget permits), there are many things you can do to boost your overall social media impact, increasing organic reach, traffic, and engagement

  1. Have an engagement strategy: The easiest way to boost your organic reach and engagement is to make sure you show up on social media. By showing up, we mean engage with other content, view stories, and follow relevant accounts. Doing this for 15 minutes every day will ensure your posts are pushed out further via the algorithm – it’s that simple.
  2. Respond and engage WITH your audience: Social media is about building brand love and advocacy. We do this by talking with our audience, not at them. Every single post should encourage an interaction. You can do this by asking a question or using tools such as polls. Don’t forget to respond to your audience either. Whether they’ve asked a question, left a positive comment, or even a emoji, it’s important to respond. You’ll even be surprised by how quickly you can defuse a negative situation by simply replying and being friendly and professional.
  3. Use platform tools: The best way to get your content seen is by utilising platform-specific tools. By tools, we mean things like Facebook Shopping, Live Videos, Reels, Stories, and Guides. This will ensure your content is pushed further via the algorithm, thus reaching more people. A great way to do this is to make sure you add each tool to your content strategy. For example, plan to do x1 Instagram Story per day, x1 Reel per week (you can end up on the explore page!), x1 Live video per month, and x2 Instagram Guides per month.
  4. Customize your content: This is where most businesses fail on social media. What works on Facebook will not work on Instagram – especially if it’s not sized correctly to the platform. For example, Instagram loves Reels and beautifully curated content, while Facebook likes long-form videos, blogs, and carousel posts. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel each time, you can turn soundbites from videos into quotes titles, or take stills from videos to turn them into carousels – as long as you’re customising each piece of content, you’ll reap the rewards.
  5. Be consistent: The worst thing you can do is not show up. Commit to a realistic posting schedule across all your social media channels and your content will automatically generate more organic reach and engagement simply by showing up.
